A client recently suggested that it would be nice if he could see exactly how much he has contributed to his account, and how much money he’s made.

We reminded him that we show this information on our quarterly client statements, and directed him to where it can be found. He was pleasantly surprised.

It was a good reminder that we’re perhaps not as vocal as we should be about our statements. They show a lot of valuable information, which many other firms don’t, including:

  • Performance – in percentage and dollar terms
  • Net contributions (contributions minus redemptions)
  • Fees – in percentage and dollar terms
  • Consolidation
  • Asset mix

If you haven’t done so in a while, we encourage you to OPEN YOUR STATEMENT!
